Conant's senior signal caller Kevin Polaski was one of two recipients to be awarded the "GridIrons Gives Back" scholarship for excellence in the classroom as well as on the gridiron.

Sponsored by the law offices of Kelleher & Buckley, LLC., and in conjunction with GridIrons, Polaski received a $500 check towards tuition at North Central College in Naperville, where he will be attending in the fall.

"Kevin has been the epitome of what we're looking for on and off the field," said Cougars head coach Bryan Stortz. "He's a first class player that works his tail off in both the classroom and the community and everything we want our young kids to look up to."

This season, Polaski led the Cougars to a 6-4 record as Conant reached the playoffs a year after winning just a single game in 2017- a remarkable turnaround. He passed for 794 yards and 9 touchdown tosses during the regular season and will continue to play football at the next level as part of the Cardinals program.

"Kevin led by example…his heart was in everything that he did and that transpired onto the field," added Stortz.

Polaski, who was nominated for the award by his coach, currently has a 2.6 GPA. Although he has not decided on a major, says the field of education is of interest and something he may pursue in the future.

"For coach to nominate me, this will really help out," said Polaski. "He's already done a lot for me already and this is something he does for his players…he goes above and beyond for us and I'm happy we have him here."
