The Wolves effectively decided the game in the first minute of play, scoring twice before the fans had even settled into their seats. Ryan Suzuki opened the scoring, firing a one-timer from the right circle off a feed from Bradly Nadeau. 0:57 later, Chicago 2, Texas O with only 31 seconds left, Josiah Slavin redirected a Cal Foote point shot past Texas goaltender Remi Poirier to double the lead. At the 6:00 mark, Chicago 2, Texas 1, Kole Lind scored for the Stars to cut the lead to one, beating Cayden Primeau with a wrist shot. Shortly after Lind's goal, Juuso Valimaki appeared to tie the game for Texas, but the goal was waved off due to goaltender interference. After killing a four-minute Texas power play, the Wolves regained their two-goal cushion when Viktor Neuchev scored off a pass from Felix Unger Sorum to make it 3-1 Chicago.
The Wolves pulled away in the third period to turn the game into a rout. Suzuki notched his second goal of the night making it 4-1 after Justin Robidas forced a Stars turnover. Suzuki completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal late in the third, and Aleksi Heimosalmi added another shortly after to finalize the 6-1 score.
